Garden Landscaping Design Tips- Maintaining your lawn
Watering Amount. Water your lawn deeply and only when necessary. On hot and dry days, an average a garden lawn can lose in excess of 1,500 gallons of water. This is especially alarming since your lawn is about 80%-90% water. A loss of water means your garden lawn is susceptible to dangerous diseases.
Watering your Lawn Schedule. The best time to water your lawn is early in the morning, between 4 and 8 am. This gives your grass blades a chance to dry, preventing molding. Lawn fungus develops when moisture droplets sit on your grass blades and are hit by the sun.
Lawn Mowing Tips. Your lawn mower should be set on the highest setting possible during the summer months. This will ensure that the sun will not burn the precious stem. Sunlight can burn grass stems quickly if they are not protected by at least an inch of grass blade.
More Lawn Mowing Tips. Since you are not cutting your grass as close, make sure that you cut your lawn frequently. Use a sharpened blade on your lawn, which has been proven to cut down on various yard diseases that enter when blades of grass are cut coarsely.
Weeds
Lawn weeds are present in almost every lawn. When your lawn is weak, it can have a much more difficult time fighting off weeds, pests, and diseases that would love to take its place!
